Lucknow : The Yogi government has placed a strong emphasis on increasing farmers’ income across Uttar Pradesh. As part of this initiative, 89 Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) in the state will play a key role by adopting two villages each in their respective areas. The scientists at these centers will work closely with farmers to introduce and educate them about new technologies for the Rabi crop season 2024-25.

In a significant move to support this effort, the government has provided each KVK with at least 10 hectares of land, free of cost. This land will be used for technical demonstrations and seed production, ensuring that farmers can benefit from advanced agricultural practices and enhance their productivity.

The focus of the administration is on providing farmers with new technology through Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs), offering training and honing their skills. Progressive farmers will be connected to agricultural extension programs, and their experiences with new technology will help other farmers learn and benefit as well.

Farmers will also receive updates on the latest agricultural research, new farming techniques, and vocational training related to job opportunities. Special attention will be given to improving the cultivation of pulses (such as gram, peas, and lentils) and oilseeds (like mustard and linseed). To boost productivity, KVKs will also work on seed and nursery production for millets, food crops, and horticultural crops.

During the Rabi season, farmers will have the opportunity to participate in study tours, seminars, and discussions with scientists before, during, and after crop sowing. Agricultural fairs and exhibitions will also be held in villages to enhance knowledge. Krishi Vigyan Kendras (KVKs) will provide farmers with technical literature on agriculture, animal husbandry, horticulture, and agriculture-based businesses to help improve farming practices.

KVKs will also work to boost specific crops by supporting the business activities of Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), with the aim of making these organizations financially strong. The centers will focus on key areas such as on-farm demonstrations, best farming practices, value addition, FPOs, natural farming, integrated pest management (IPM), soil testing, and balanced fertilizer use.

In the October Rabi seminars, state agricultural universities will set up special stalls. Additionally, a video conference will be held on the evening of October 4 with KVK presidents, university representatives, and agriculture department officials to discuss preparations for this special program.
