New Delhi: Group Captain (Retd) Mahesh Balwant Upasani, an officer of the Indian Air Force and a popular spokesperson, has started a new innings. He took charge as the head of the Corporate Communication Department in ‘Safran India’, a France-based leading multinational company in the defense, aviation and space sector in the country, from yesterday.
Mahesh held the post of spokesperson of the Indian Air Force at South Block, Raisina Hill, where the Ministry of Defense is located, from 2002 to 2010. And he earned a reputation among defense journalists as an excellent spokesperson and a wonderful human being.
He was commissioned in the Indian Air Force on 19 December 1992 and retired on 30 November 2023 after 31 years of illustrious service.
A brilliant personality, Mahesh assumed the post of Corporate Communication Head in Safran Company on 5 October 2024. This company has been operating in India for 65 years. According to the information received about this prestigious company, 75 percent of Indian airplanes and helicopters have equipment of this company. 1400 plus helicopter turbines of the company are in service in the Indian armed forces. About two thousand staff of the company are working in 17 units located across the country.
